On July 5th, 1996, Rocky Aoki and Benihana presented a very special art show at the Benihana Kings Road location in London. The Artist, Tico Torress, is none other than the hard driving drummer for one of the world's most popular Rock bands. Bon Jovi. Tico has received much critical acclaim for his strong and vibrant art style and 100 paintings along with new ceramics and bronze sculptures were displayed in a beautiful gallery setting within the restaurant. Rocky often exhibits artwork throughout the 94 Benihanas located around the world. Last year, he sponsored an exhibition with Japanese artist Ohgen Hamanaka in London and New York with Prince Philip in attendance.
The flamboyant leader of the band, Jon Bon Jovi, acted as co-host of the event with Rocky as the group was in London performing sold-out concerts at Wembley Stadium. Proceeds from art sales went to benefit the Duke of Edinburgh's International Awards Foundation. Recently in Tokyo, Rocky hosted Prince Edwards and raised $100,000 for the Foundation.
